Group seeks synergy with Bauchi govt to curb farmers, herders clashes


A group known as Active Nigerian Farmers and Rearers Association (ANFRA) has sought the collaboration of the Bauchi state government to curb incidences of farmers and herders clashes in not only Bauchi but Nigeria as a whole.


The National Organizing Secretary of the Association, Comrade Umar Samaila stated this during a courtesy visit on the Bauchi state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki at his residence.


While describing clashes between farmers and rearers as worrisome, the association said they were convinced that, with the active support and collaboration of the state government, such clashes would be a thing of the past.


“We are here to also bestow honor on him for uniting the people of Bauchi state across the 20 local government areas of the state and for ensuring peace between farmers and rearers. Thirdly, for the uncountable successive projects that we have been seeing in the state”, Comrade Samaila added.


According to him, the association has observed with keen interest, the efforts of the commissioner towards supporting the governor in the area of ensuring peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders across the state.


He said that the association comprises of active farmers and rearers that cut across different ethnic and religious affiliation, adding that the main objective of the association is to ensure better understanding between the two occupations.


Responding, the commissioner thanked members of the association for deeming it fit to honour him, assuring that the gesture will spur him to do more for the unity of the state.


The commissioner said that the governor of the state, Bala Mohammed has been having sleepless nights to ensure that all law abiding people in the state goes to bed with their two eyes closed.
