Group tasks stakeholders on Ogoni clean-up

The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development, (Centre LSD), with support from Cordaid, has urged community leaders and members Ogoni land to organize a town hall meeting in order to facilitate the cleanup of Ogoniland

According to a press statement signed on Wednesday, by the Senior Programme Officer of the Centre, Mr. Amodu Lawal,  the objective of the town hall meeting is to critique stakeholders engagements on the clean-up with a view to unearthing the challenges and charting the way forward in the light of the current realities.

Lawal said that the town hall meeting which promises to be robust and engaging, will be a platform where stakeholders will reflect on their efforts towards the realization of the clean-up of Ogoni land and the Niger Delta.

“The meeting will have various stakeholders and citizen groups including Traditional rulers, CSOs, women groups, youths, government agencies- HYPREP, NOSDRA, and the media in attendance,” he said.

He urged participants to be open and frank in their contributions so that collectively, stakeholders could come up with robust strategies that could catalyze the processes leading to the eventual clean-up of the Niger Delta.
