Group to build old people’s centre in Suleja

The Coalition of Societies for the Rights of Older People in Nigeria (COSROPIN), an NGO, has said  it will build an Old People’s Centre (OPC) in Suleja, Niger.

The president of COSROPIN, Senator  Eze Ajoku,  stated  in Abuja  Monday that the centre would help improve the health condition of old people.

Ajoku said the coalition was poised and determined to restore joy and fellowship to senior citizens.

He stated  that the centre was necessary to bring older people to together and avail them the opportunity for recreation and reunion which would be of greater advantage to improving their health status.

“Why we want to build the centre is to help reduce loneliness among old people which is one of the greatest causes of death and depression for them,” Ajoku said.

The COSROPIN boss, who reiterated the commitment of the coalition to the welfare of older people, said the centre would also help in reinvigorating senior citizens for longer life.

Hre said the centre will go a long way in renewing a sense of love, value and passion life because it will trigger a new social beginning in them.

Ajoku called for national support for older people who he described as the genuine foundation of the country’s future. (NAN)
