In recognition of the critical role that the media play in bridging information gaps among the people, the Feed the Future Nigeria Rural Resilience Activity (RRA) has organized a 3-days workshop for media practitioners in the North-east and FCT on agribusiness and food security.
The training which took place at AUN Hotel Conference Centre in Yola, Adamawa state was part of a series of activities aimed at supporting the media to develop quality and marketable agribusiness content.
RRA is a five-year USAID-funded program, implemented by Mercy Corps, in partnership with the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) and Save the children International, to facilitate economic recovery and growth in vulnerable, conflict affected areas by promoting systemic change in market systems.
In her welcome address, the Chief of party RRA Margarita Aswani said, their vision is for North-east Nigeria to achieve transformation in the economy driven by competitive, inclusive and resilient growth.
She revealed that “If the Activity invests in strengthening the capacities of conflict affected households, communities, and market systems then there will be sustained improvements in the exchange of goods and services within Northeast Nigeria”.
The commutation manager RRA, Mr Ayodele Falade, noted that the training would strengthen the capacity of the media to write an in-depth reports.
