Group wants Boni Haruna’s nomination as minister withdrawn

An Adamawa-based group under the People Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to cancel the nomination of a former governor of the state, Mr. Boni Haruna, as a nominee for ministerial position.

A statement issued yesterday in Abuja, which was jointly signed by all the concerned member of the group; Mallam Abubakar Yahya (Tongo LGA), Mr. Edward Gapsipo (Ganiye LGA), Alh. Dahiru Adamu nyako (Mayo Belwa LGA), Mr. Jerome Bwate (Demsa LGA), and Mr. Dominic Maxwell (Numan LGA); alleged that the nominee “will work against the PDP because his pay masters in the APC, he is not a core PDP man.”

The statement said: “We the undersigned, being PDP grassroots stakeholders in Adamawa State are unhappy for his ministerial nomination and therefore appeal to Mr. President to save the PDP from extinction in Adamawa State by immediately replacing him with a competent and loyal PDP Stakeholder from our state for the post of minister.

“We also appeal to PDP senators in the National Assembly not to screen Mr. Boni Haruna as his emergence will spell doom for the party in Adamawa State, they said.
“In 2011, he vigorously attacked the PDP by massively campaigning for the ACN Governorship Candidate in Adamawa State – Mr. Marcus Gundiri.”
