Group wants Gombe APC ward congress nullified

All Progressive Congress Adalci Advocacy Group, Gombe State, has urged the National Convention Committee to nullify last Saturday’s ward congress because it was characterised by manipulations. The leader of the group, Abubakar Aliyu, said yesterday in Gombe shortly after presenting its petition to the party Congress Appeal Committee in the state, stating that ward congress should not be accepted. He appealed to the committee as matter of justice and fair play to declare a new date for the ward congress to be held in the state. “We expect internal democracy and internal democracy is the way to go.
Those kinds of funny politics that were played must stop. We are calling the National Convention Committee should take the necessary steps to correct this in our party APC not just in Gombe State but across the whole nation, to make sure that there is respect for internal democracy in the party.
“With all the undertaking by the chairman of the Committee, Kawu Sumaila, there were no elections held throughout the state. Three members of ward committee did not turn-up at the venue up to 6:00pm on Saturday while thousands of party supports congregated for the election at the ward level across the state. “Absolutely clear that there were neither election nor consensus held 114 wards in the state incompliance with party constitution and the guideline to the congresses”, Aliyu said.
