Group warns against another #EndSARS protest, commends IGP

Following agitations on social media, a nongovernmental organisation, Food Not Bombs Nigeria (FNBN), has cautioned Nigerian youth against engaging in another round of EndSARS protest.

The group urged Nigerians to give peace a chance for the development of the country.

During a press conference Wednesday in Abuja, national coordinator of FNBN, Mr. Idowu Israel, commended the Inspector General of Police IGP), Mohammed Adamu, for managing the crisis that resulted from the earlier #EndSARS protest that led to destruction of lives and property in different states across the federation.

Israel noted that individual businesses were destroyed during the protest and beseeched the government to support the affected people and ensure that they reactivate their livelihood in earnest.

He said: “We are not unaware of capricious tendencies of destabilising elements heating up the polity through misguided agitations to agitate for expected egalitarianism. We cannot equally sacrifice the sanctity of our national cohabitation on the altar of nihilist provocation against the government.

“We are not equally unaware of another planned #EndSARS protest being planned to destabilise the nation despite still battling on how to reconstruct the destroyed properties accrued to the mishandling of the first misguided wave.

We strongly appeal to the mindset of our conscious Nigerian youths, while not disregarding their rights to peaceful protest, to please desist from being mobilised by destructive elements working towards the disunity of our amalgamation.”
