Guard in police net for ‘illegal detention’ of DISCO staff

A guard with Quilox Nightclub in Lagos is cooling his heels in police custody for allegedly detaining some staff of Eko Electricity Distribution Company within the premises of the nightclub.
The Eko Disco staff were said to have gone into the premises on revenue collection duty after discovering that the nightclub was owing the company about N5 million.
However, on sighting the Disco staff, the guard and some staff at the club reportedly locked the gate on them and the operational vehicle that conveyed them.
Blueprint gathered that all entreaties for the gate to be opened were rebuffed until policemen from Ahmadu Bello Police Station said to have been contacted by the superiors of the DISCO staff secured their release.
A police source, who did not want his name in print, while confirming the incident to journalists said investigation, was on-going and all those found culpable would be arrested and prosecuted.
Also speaking on the incident, Eko Disco spokesman, Mr Godwin Idemudia, said the company would not tolerate any form of harassment of its staff while on official duty.
He advised members of the public against such acts and reiterated that the company would explore all possible legal avenues to bring defaulters to book.
