Gunmen abduct Edo monarch’s wife, daughter

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have taken hostage, Queen Florence Ikhumhen, wife  of the traditional ruler of Ewatto in Esan South East local government Area of Edo State, HRH, Ikhumhen 11.

The queen was reportedly kidnapped on Sunday night alongside her daughter.

They were abducted at their Benin City residence on Jemilla road in the State capital.

A witness who craved for anonymity said: “the gunmen shot sporadically to scare people away before whisking their victims to unknown destination”.

Blueprint gathered that the abductors rode on speed boat through the Ikpoba-river and left through the same rout.

The queen was said to have recently retired as principal of Itohan grammar school in Benin City.

Spokesman for Edo state police command, DSP, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident adding that investigation is ongoing.
