Gunmen abduct Kogi speaker’s 2 kids

Gunmen yesterday invaded the residence of the Kogi state House of Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon.  Momoh Jimoh Lawal, at Okengwe, in Okene local government area of the state, and kidnapped two of his children; Hafeez (3) and Ogirima (7).
It was gathered that the gunmen gained entrance through the fence and looted the speaker’s house, carting away with valuables such as jewelry, television set and a generator from the house.
Lawal, who spoke with Blueprint on phone, confirmed the incident, but said the kidnappers were yet to contact him for their demands.

A source from the Speaker’s house told our reporter that the gunmen, numbering no fewer than 10 came in at 4 o’clock in the morning, jumped through the fence before shooting sporadically into the air.
He said immediately they gained access into the house, they demanded for the Speaker’s two sons; seven-year-old Ogirima Jimoh and three-year-old Hafeez Jimoh, and took them away to an unknown destination.

He said “the gunmen took their time to ransack the house and carted away some valuables. And on their way out, they demanded for the Speaker’s number which was given to them. They took the boys into the Speaker’s wife car; a Toyota car and left.
This is coming a few months after the wife and daughter of Adavi local government council chairman, Salihu Adaviroko, were kidnapped at his residence but regained freedom after 19 days.
