Gunmen attack Alafara community in Ibadan, fire at cows

Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Vivian Onadeko, on Sunday said the command is now trailing the gunmen that shot some cows at the Alafara community in Ologuneru area of Ibadan on Saturday night.

CP Vivian Onadeko in a statement issued on her behalf by the command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Lawrence Fadeyi, said the gunmen invaded the cow settlement in the area and fired some cows

She said that the shooting of the cows has nothing to do with the Fulani/Yoruba clash, saying the command is presently on the trail of the perpetrators of the crime

“The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Ngozi Onadeko, wishes to state that upon information received from a good spirited member of the public that some suspected person(s) today 20/02/2021 at about 0720 hrs, invaded a cow settlement at Alafara community Ologuneru area of Ibadan and fired some cows.

“Immediately the incident happened, Police teams were drafted to the area to ascertain the immediate and the remote cause of the incident, and investigation had been ordered immediately into the incident, while the Police are on the trail of the perpetrators(s) of the dastardly act “, she  said

According to the Commissioner of Police Vivian Onadeko “consequent upon this,  it is wordy of note that the incident has nothing to do with Fulani/Yoruba clash”

The CP then implored the people of Oyo State and the general public to disregard any insinuations from any quarters, while the relative peace being enjoyed by the good citizens of the State should not be allowed to be tampered with in any way by disgruntled elements.

She also assured of the commitment of the Officers and men of the Command to continue to protect lives and property of the peace loving people of the State, CP Vivian Onadeko solicited constant and reliable credible information from the members of the public to enable the Police serve them better.
