Gunmen kill 13, injure 5 others in Plateau community

The Plateau state Police Command, has confirmed the killing of 13 persons by unknown gunmen at Kwatas village in Bokkos local government area of Plateau state.

The Police spokesman, ASP Ubah Ababa, in a press statement confirmed the killings.

He said: “Unknown gun men attacked Kwatas village, Bokkos district, Bokkos LGA of Plateau state where 13 persons lost their lives while five persons were critically injured and receiving treatment at General Hospital, Bokkos.”

However, Alhaji Shanono Ibrahim, said: “From the report I got, some gunmen stormed a bear drinking joint, opened fire and killed 11 persons, at Kwatas village in Bokkos local government area of the Plateau state.

“But surprisingly, some unknown persons took a reprisal and burnt down some Fulani hamlets as a result of the attacks.”

Similarly, the Auditor of GAN Allah Association, in Bokkos LGA, Abubakar Yunus, confirmed burning of 23 houses and one Mosque.

“For no reason they burnt 23 houses of the Fulani, they also burnt down a Mosque,” he said.

But when contacted on the alleged burning of the houses and Mosque, ASP Ababa, said: “We are working and I will get back to you.”
