Gunmen kill 18, burn 20 houses in Wase

Two houses in Mavo village were reported killed, while three STF men were injured in an attack on Wase local government  area of Plateau state, a local source has told blueprint.

The source told our reporter on that the attackers attempted to invade Wase town from Zango, but were repelled while others attacked Mavo village coming from Kadarko village, suspected to have been of the Tarok tribal extraction.
He said many of the attackers were also killed.

“They came from the side of Kadarko and invaded the village of Mavo. They killed two people and burnt many houses,” he added.
Our correspondent gathered from the Special Task Force (STF), Media/Information Officer Captain Salisu I. Mustapha, who confirmed the incident, said the attackers were initially repelled at about 3 a.m. yesterday, “but the youth regrouped and launched another attack on the village of Mavo, at about 5 to 6 a.m.”

Mustapha further said: “Two residences of Mavo were killed, about 20 houses burnt.”
The STF media officer further said: “Three of our men sustained injuries and were receiving treatment in hospitals.

“The attackers were then repelled, with sixteen of them being killed, while one General Purpose Machine (GPM), one AK 47 rifle and a G3 gun were recovered from the attackers.”
Mustapha said security men had been redeployed and normalcy had been restored in the area.
