Gunmen kill 6 in Plateau


The Plateau state police command has confirmed the killing of six herdersby unknown gunmen in Chol village of Jos South Local Government Area (LGA) of the state. 

The command spokesman, ASP Ubah Ogabah, said the killing occurred on Thursday evening.
 “On 1/7/2021, the Plateau State Police Command received a report of an attack at Chol Village Vwang District of Jos South L.G.A by yet to be identified armed men.

“Unfortunately, six persons and five cows were shot dead,” he said.
According to him, a team of Policemen and STF personnel, from sector six  were immediately deployed to the location to beef up security.
“An investigation is ongoing to trail the perpetrators of the act and bring them to justice,” he added.
Also confirming the incident, the Chairman Coalition for Fulani Group in Nigeria, Abdulkarim Bayero, said funeral prayer was observed on the corpses at Bukuru Central Mosque.
Abdullahi Jubrin, a father to one of the deceased narrated that the incident occurred when the victims were rearing their cattle and suddenly, a J5 peugeot vehicle got to the area and dropped some gunmen who instantly started shooting sporadically.
He said the deceased tried all they could to escape the shooting but could not.
He further said the killing came six days after one herder was killed and another one injured in Byie village of Riyom LGA of the state.
