Gunmen kill 9 in fresh Benue attack

No fewer than nine persons were killed and many others injured with several houses razed when unknown gunmen attacked Tse-Ujoh, in Ikyurav Tiev, from Katsina Ala local government area of Benue state.
The gunmen, who were alleged by locals to be gang members of a notorious criminal Terwase Akwaza, popularly known as Gana, stormed the area around 8am, when the victims were in their farms.
Blueprint Weekend also gathered that the notorious criminal called Gana, had a misunderstanding with a man popularly known as ‘Coach’ whom the locals alleged was his rival. One of the locals who spoke on condition of anonymity said two persons were abducted by the attackers while the whereabouts of three others were still unknown. Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Benue state Command, Moses Yamu, said nine persons were killed from the attack, adding that eight corpse were discovered, sport while one other, died on the way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom, has urged communities in Sankera area of the state to assist security operatives with useful information to end the attacks on innocent people by armed militia.
The governor described as unacceptable, the latest attack on Tse-Ujoh in Ikyurav-Tiev of KatsinaAla local government area which left nine persons dead in the early hours of Friday. According to the governor, Gunmen kill 9 in fresh Benue attack three persons have been arrested in connection with the attack even as he reassured the people of his administration’s unwillingness to allow armed militia continuous terror on the communities.
He appealed to anyone with useful information that could lead to the apprehension of the gang members to contact the Police, Department of State Service or the military
