Gunmen kill Harvest FM staff, neighbour in Makurdi

Gunmen numbering three Saturday shot and killed head of ICT unit of Harvest FM Makurdi, Patrick Kumbul, and his neighbour, Wueseter Shongo.

The gunmen, Blueprint gathered, killed Kumbul about 9 pm near his house at School Lane (Amokachi Lane) Makurdi, while he was returning home after a sit out with friends.

The neighbour, Shongo was alleged to have been attacked and killed by the gunmen, when he came out after hearing the gunshot. 

Spokesperson Benue state police command, DSP Catherine Sewuese Anene, who confirmed the killing of the two persons, said investigation was already on to fish out the attackers.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state while reacting on the incident, Sunday charged the Benue state police command and other security agencies to track down and arrest the killers of Kumbul and his neighbour.

The governor through his chief press secretary, Terver Akase, described as unacceptable, the murder of Mr. Kumbul by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in front of his house on Daniel Amokachi Lane, Makurdi.

He urged residents of the state capital and neighbouring towns to volunteer information that would lead to the arrest of the killers.

The governor sympathised with the entire Shongo and Kumbul family, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria and Harvest FM staff in particular over the painful loss and prayed that  God should grant the deceased persons eternal rest.
