Gunmen kill Zaki Biam yam market chairman

Gunmen in the late hours of Monday shot the chairman, Shade Owners Association at the Zaki Biam Yam Market, Mr Tavershima Achinge dead.

Blueprint learnt that the deceased had returned home from the popular Zaki Biam yam market in Ukum local government area when suspected gunmen suddenly appeared and immediately opened fire on him. He reportedly died instantly. 
An eye witness and a close relation to the victim who pleaded anonymity said that they were at home when the incident took place.

He stated that they were fortunate to have escaped from the attack as the hoodlums shot sporadically.

Caretaker chairman of Ukum local government Mr Tyoakaa Ibellogo who confirmed the incident, said the identity of the gunmen were still unknown.

He appealed to the Police to launch a manhunt for the fleeing culprits with the aim of tracking them down for Justice. 

 Ibellogo also challenged the security agents to intensify surveillance to avert attack on other individuals.

It was gathered that the body of late Achinge had since been deposited at the mortuary at a private hospital in Zaki Biam.

Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Benue state Command, DSP Catherine Sewuese Anene who confirmed the incident, said police have already commence investigation into the matter.
