Gusau airport project to be completed in 2 years – Consultant

The proposed Gusau International Airport project in Zamfara state will be completed in the next two years through Public Private Partnership (PPP) with Heritage Bank, Head of Ulo Consultant Company Ltd, Mr Uche Oko Panu has said.

Mr Panu stated this when the team for the project visited Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle in Gusau Sunday.

He said the company was the first indigenous company that constructed similar airport in Niger Delta. He promised the governor standard work to meet international standards.

He told Governor Matawalle that, the company representatives were in the state to inspect the permanent site of the project for speedy feasibility study and commencement of the project ahead of time.

In his remarks, the Head of Abuja Directorate of Heritage Bank, Mr George Oko Oba said the bank has concluded all its arrangement for financing the project through PPP.

 Governor Matawalle said part of his administration’s commitment is to provide land and other logistics to ensure speedy completion of the Gusau International Airport project.

He also urged the partnership companies that will execute the project on the need to use local system, particularly by engaging state indigenous youths that are unemployed.

“I want to appeal to the companies that would handle this gigantic project to use local system for our teeming unemployed youths to be engaged with a view to make them self reliant,” Governor Matawalle said.

Governor Matawalle said, recently his administration had signed 1billion US dollars Memorandum of Understanding with the Afreximbank for the economic reinvigoration of the state that will facilitate trade and industrialisation of the state.
