Hajj/Umrah exhibition to attract investments to Nigeria

The National Hajj and Umrah Exhibition (NHAUE) opened in Abuja Sheraton Hotel Wednesday. The purpose of the exhibition, the organisers  of the event, Al-Yaro International, Matasa Charity Association for Sustainable Development  and Soroh Hijaz, a Saudi company,  say, is to showcase and chart ways to make Hajj and Umrah a hitch-free exercise for Nigerian pilgrims and other pilgrims from African continent.

Speaking on the event Wednesday, former House of  Representatives member, Hon Kabir Ajannah, said exhibition was intended to create a vista of business opportunities between the Saudi and Nigerian business communities.

Because the event apart from drawing attention to Hajj and Umrah affairs, he said, was aimed at attracting investments to Nigeria. He therefore called on Nigerians to avail themselves of the window of opportunities the exhibition would create.

The event brought businessmen and women in Nigerian and their counterparts in the Diaspora together.

Speaking to pressmen Sunday, Acting Director Programmes, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Mustapha Al-Amin, said the Saudi delegation would  see business  opportunities  in Nigeria  in terms of Hajj and Umrah.

“NIDCOM has been giving us all the support we need. The relationship between Nigeria and Saudi has been very fruitful and cordial. And both countries want to see how the cordial relationship can be strengthened further for the benefit of Nigerian pilgrims to Umrah and Hajj.

“We want to attract businesses and investments to Nigeria. Therefore the forthcoming exhibition will further create more favourable business climate for Nigerians to the benefit of both countries.

“Through this exhibition Saudi investors will be attracted to Nigeria. You can see that the exhibition is not only restricted to Hajj and Umrah but to Nigerians in Diaspora to see the need to contribute to the national economy of Nigeria through agriculture and other critical areas of the economy,” he said.
