Hakeem Baba-Ahmed and the rest of us

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, is just a centre seeking relevance. I respect some people in this forum because they are ex-this and ex-that. For sure, some so-called elders in that forum are relevance seekers, especially when the government tends to have nothing to do with them. Take the example of its protem chairman, Professor Ango Abdullahi, who was the Vice-chancellor of ABU. One wonders how that man has changed to become the dictator Chairman of the forum, which has dumped itself into the un-navigable river, consuming people’s lives. Who does the ACF consult before taking decisions which reflect the convivial opinions of the great numbers of northerners?

The ACF, if they are sincere, should have reflected the whole segments of the Northern Nigerian population within the context of 19 state governments which are now on elective platforms. This so-called forum has never been a democratically elected one. The good members like Paul Unongo and Alhaji Tanko Yakasai were the real members but due to unnecessary utterances of the protem Chairman of the forum, the two respected elders and politicians have to withdraw their membership from this seeming one man association, the so-called ACF headed by Professor Ango Abdullahi. For its mouth piece, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, this Libyan-Nigerian elite should remember that his immediate country Libya has been in turmoil for a long time now and it is from Libya that people of little minds smuggle weapons into Nigeria. The terror that diminished Libya and destroyed it to this level had the root from outside the shores of that divided country since the demise of its leader Colonel Gaddafi. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has never for once spoken about Libya being first and foremost lovable country being an Arab barbas!

It is unfortunate that Ango Abdullahi and his mouth piece at the ACF, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, have to focus their attention on President Muhammadu Buhari, the icon of Nigeria’s oneness and one of those that wanted for long to activate Nigerian unity and peace. Nigeria’s insecurity has been there since 1966, when some disgruntled elements forcibly changed the government of the most noble people ever in Nigeria. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed and his co-travelers should have thought wisely before embarking on the impossibility. Who are you to ask President Buhari to resign and why? May be it is to impress the likes of Fr. Mbaka whose utterances as a priest have been condemned as they could reignite the civil war that devastated Nigeria in 1967-70.

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed resides in Kaduna with his boss, Professor Ango Abdullahi. They witnessed how Kaduna got engulfed in insecurity. It is better to advise the Kaduna governor who seems deaf on his unpopular actions, especially sacking large numbers of workers and the destruction of homes and the stalls; destroying the livelihood of others. The Kaduna mafia in ACF who consult nobody but selves, should have advised Governor El-Rufa’i the Faskari element to please cease his soldier-like iron rule to respect the chastity of the people and not calling for Buhari’s impeachment.
