The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), will hold its quarterly National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at the University of Calabar on Sunday.
This was disclosed by a member of the NEC on Saturday in Abuja.
“There is a quarterly NEC meeting and it’s for the fourth quarter. Lots of issues will come up and definitely, the issue of withheld and amputated salaries will come up.”
At the time of filing this report, no official comment has been made by the union’s national president, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke.
After ASUU suspended its strike on 14 October 2022, the lecturers were not paid their full salaries for October, and the remaining months’ salaries were withheld
The Federal Government said the payment was on a pro-rata basis as the union only suspended their strike two weeks into the month. But ASUU protested, accusing the government of casualising the work of the academics.
However, the union confirmed that its members received full salaries for the month of November 2022.
