Halt the disruption of electricity to Maiduguri

Electricity is one of the most important blessings that Almighty God has given to mankind. It has also become a part of modern life and one cannot think of a world without it. Electricity has many uses in our day to day life. It is used for lighting rooms, working fans and domestic appliances like using electric stoves, A/C and more. All these provide comfort to people. In factories, schools, large machines work with the help of electricity. Essential items like food, cloth, paper and many other things are products of electricity.

Electricity also provides means of amusement. Radio and television are the most popular means of sending information as a result of electricity. Modern equipment like computers has also been developed because of electricity. Electricity plays a pivotal role in the fields of medicines and surgery such as X-ray, ECG. The use of electricity is increasing by the day.

Borno state has been without electricity for almost two months after the destruction of electric tower in the state by the Boko Haram insurgents. After staying long time in blackout, the state government restored electricity to the state on March 24, 2021. People in the state saw electricity for the first time in two months. Everyone was excited. Unfortunately after enjoying the electricity for just three days Boko Haram again planted two booms which caused another destruction of electric tower in Shuwari village along Maiduguri and Damaturu highway.

It is high time the federal and state government waged war and end this destruction of electric tower by Boko Haram because the people in the state are in need of government’s intervention especially to us UNIMAID students because it may effect our academic performance as the end of session examination is approaching.

Furthermore, federal government should intervene and tackle the issues of Boko Haram insurgency or if possible the government should negotiate with the Boko Haram insurgents like it is doing on the issue of school abduction. By this, people in Borno state will have a peace of mind and a better.

May Almighty God bring an end to all insurgencies and restore peace in all parts of Nigeria.

Amen.
