Happening now: FG locked in marathon meeting with resident doctors as patients groan

Minister of State for Labour and Productivity Festus Keyamo has revealed that a meeting between the federal government representatives and those of National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) is ongoing in Abuja.

Keyamo while disclosing this via his Twitter handle on Friday night wrote, “In the last five hours, we have been in a meeting with the leaderships of the National Association of Resident Doctors & the Nigeria Medical Association to resolve issues that prompted the strike action by the doctors. We are edging closer to a quick resolution of all the issues.”

The doctors have been on strike in the past days, a situation that has kept patients seeking affordable medical attention in various government hospitals frustration.

Members of the National Assembly, particularly the Senate have joined in calling on the striking resident doctors to yield to the voice of reason and resume work.

The doctors are majorly seeking improved welfare and working conditions.
