Happening now: Northern governors in emergency meeting over #EndSARS

Northern states governors under the aegis of Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) are currently holding an emergency closed door meeting in Kaduna.

The meeting, which kicked off with 16 states from the North represented, is presided over by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau state. 

The meeting, which started at 1:50pm is expected to deliberate on the #EndSars protests ongoing across the country, activities of bandits and kidnappers in the North, as well as other security challenges facing the North.  

Majority of the fallouts of the #EndSars in terms of killings and arsons have been limited to the Southern part of Nigeria, with only Kano state and FCT, Abuja suffering one form of #EndSars crisis or the other in the North.

But the Forum is expected to take proactive measures to stop the crisis from crepting to other Northern states. 

In attendance are Governors Simon Lalong of Plateau state, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state, Babagana Zulum of Borno state, AbdulRahman AbdulRazak of Kwara state, Mohammed Badaru of Jigawa state, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state, Sani Bello of Niger state and Bello Mutawale of Zamfara state.

The meeting, which is hosted by Kaduna state deputy governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, equally has in attendance the deputy governors of Kogi, Kano, Katsina and Bauchi states. 

A communiqué is expected at the end of the closed door meeting.
