Happening now: Police deployed as angry youths attempt to cart away palliatives from Abuja warehouse

There is currently an uneasy calm around Area 10 Garki axis of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital after teeming angry youths reportedly besieged Arts and Culture premises to cart away COVID-19 palliatives.

However, it took the intervention of the Police operatives who were deployed immediately to stop them, Blueprint reports.

The police upon arrival shot sporadically in the air to disperse those who already gathered to fulfil their plans.

A passerby who went to make purchase in a nearby neighbourhood market confirmed to Blueprint, “I was there to feed my stomach and gunshots, sporadic shooting by the police to disperse youths seeking to collect their share of the stored palliatives there.”

Police authorities are yet to react, but Blueprint is still keeping close watch to happenings in the area.
