Harmattan: Anambra fire service warns against bush burning

 

Following the reports of fire in various parts of the country, the Director/Fire Chief, Anambra state Fire Service, Engr Martin Agbili has advised people to discontinue from bush burning.

Agbili, who also advised people to clear dry bushes around their surroundings to prevent fire incidence in the event of inferno, lamented that most fire incidents were caused by activities of hunters, users of explosives and smokers.

He further appealed to people setting fire anywhere to closely monitor them in order to prevent it from escalating to other places.

The fire chief enjoined the traditional rulers and Presidents-General of various communities to join the agency in sensitising their communities on dangers of bush burning and reckless use of fire especially on harmattan season.

Blueprint recalled that fire outbreak believed to be caused by bush burning had in recent time destroyed properties at various parts of the state including Enugwu Ukwu General Hospital Morgue where corpses were burnt beyond recognition, among others.
