A former Ambassador and Deputy Head of Missions Embassy of Nigeria in Washington DC, Hassan Mohammed Hassan, has joined the call for the re-election of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and his deputy, Alh. Umar Usman Kadafur, for a second term of office.
Ambassador Hassan, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, while commiserating with Governor Zulum and people of Borno state over the inferno that gutted the popular Maiduguri Monday Market, charged the people of the state, particularly Southern Borno and Biu Emirate to vote for Zulum en masse at the Saturday governorship elections, describing him as a workaholic governor who will sustain the current revolution in the state.
According to him, the incumbent governor towers high and above other contestants, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) contender in the state, given his antecedents.
In a press statement issued to the media, Wednesday, Amb Hassan hinged his call on the various achievements recorded by the governor, including the decimation of the dreaded Boko Haram, building of mass housing, relocation and provision of life support items to the victims of insurgency, road construction and rehabilitation across the 27 LGAs of the state, construction and rehabilitation of public schools to international standard ,among others.
In his words: “The passion and drive of Professor Zulum to make the difference in Borno began with his appointment in 2015 as the State Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement by the former governor of the state and now President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima is crucial to March 11, 2023.
“As a commissioner for the strategic ministry, Babagana Umara Zulum coordinated the reconstruction of hundreds of private houses destroyed by the Boko Haram insurgents, leading to the reconstruction of about 60 percent of private homes. In addition, public and private schools and health institutions were completely reconstructed.
“That was why on September 29, 2018 the then governor of the state, Kashim Shettima, endorsed Zulum as his successor. First-class traditional rulers and Borno elders similarly settled for Prof Zulum, based on his integrity and track records of achievements as commissioner. Saturday, March 11, 2023 is a reward time to re-elect our governor for continuity and good governance.”
While thanking the immediate past governor and Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima for his visionary leadership, Hassan further charged Governor Zulum to consolidate good governance as exemplified in the last couple of years under his watch.
