HEA to design early warning, response system to alleviate poverty – NGO

A non-governmental organisation, Save the Children, has said that the Household Economy Analysis (HEA) will help design of early warning and response systems to alleviate poverty and increase the livelihood of people in the rural and urban areas across the country.

The Head of Food Security and Livelihood ofnthw NGO, Save the Children, Chachu Tadicha said the result from the Analysis will also provide insight into the economic conditions of households according to their livelihoods, zones and how they can be assisted.

At a media breakfast meeting on Household Economy Analysis in Abuja on Monday, Tadicha revealed that in Borno it had intervened in 300,000 persons and with 56,000 households given monthly cash transfers of about N3,500 to buy food.

He said the program which started in 2014 has recorded success in Bauchi, Jigawa , Katsina and Zamfara. 

According to him, in Zamfara and Jigawa, Save the Children intervened in over 100, 000 individuals who benefited from N4000 monthly cash transfers adding that they were also intervening in 28,000 households in Yobe.

“The program started around 2014 and is ending this July from here on it goes into the federal government special protection system where we are working with the office of the Vice President.
