United Nation children funds ( UNICEF) have renovated, upgraded and handed over 7 primary Healthcare centers in Adamawa state to support government efforts towards effective primary health care system in the state.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony of some of the clinics Monday in Yola, UNICEF chief of field office for Bauchi, Bhanu Pathak represented by Dr. Halima Abdu, said that the gesture was inline with their mandate of ensuring child survival, development and protection of the rights of children.
She further explained that in 2017, UNICEF received support from the European Union to support 3 Northern states including Adamawa to implement health care services which led to the 24 hours functional of 226 PHC centres, training of over 1,130 health workers on different PHC service
Others are provision of equipments, motorcycles and essential medicines worth 1,856,643.65 USD distributed to the 226 PHCS and provision of a mobile storage unit worth 14,000 USD among many other efforts.
She reiterated the commitments of UNICEF to fulfil all its obligations and continue to work together with the state government to improved the primary health care sector of the state.
Even as she tasked the people of the community and the staff of the clinics to compliment the efforts of UNICEF by taking care of the facilities in the overall interest of the general public.
