Herders hack 56-yr-old farmer to death in Oyo

 

A- 56- year old farmer identified as Babarinde Muftau was  Wednesday evening allegedly macheted to death during an attack by suspected herdsmen in Ayete, Ibarapa area of Oyo state.

The farmer was returning from his farm along Orita Meta, Konko village in Ayete when he met his untimely death at about 7pm.

A human rights activist in the area who is also   the convener of Igangan Development Advocate, Comrade  Oladiran Oladokun, said the 56- year- old farmer was attacked by suspected Fulani herders.

He sustained severe injuries of deep cuts on the back of his neck, hands and his right leg.

Comrade Oladokun stated that the 56- year- old farmer would have been rescued if people were around the farm as he was said to have died  from heavy bleeding from the cuts.

The said herdsmen were said to have flee the scene of the attack on sensing that the farmer was about to give up the ghost.

Comrade Oladokun, while stressing that the late farmer being a Muslim has since been buried by members of his family stated that the incident has  been reported at Igangan Police station.

Oyo state Police command spokesman, DSP Adewale Osifeso, when contacted, confirmed the incident adding that men of the command are investigating the matter
