Herdsman severs farmer’s arm in Bauchi

A farmer, Malam Sani of Maduba village in Murmur District of Zaki local government of Bauchi state is currently recuperating at Hadeja General Hospital following the amputation of his right hand during an argument with a herdsman.
Speaking to our reporter from his hospital bed yesterday, the victim explained that on the fateful day he found a herd of cattle grazing on his farm while the herdsman, who is a son to one Alhaji Gainako, did not make any move to stop them.
He said the herdsman during an argument that ensued hit him twice with the flat side of his cutlass and then struck with an extra force that cut off his hand as he attempted to shield his face.
Blueprint gathered that the herdsman after the incident escaped while his brother is in police custody to assist in tracing his whereabouts.
The incident, according to sources, took place on January 14, this year, at Maduba.
In another development, the Fulani youth in Tashena District of the local government have been advised to avoid contravening the bye-law prohibiting them from carrying weapons in public places.
The district head of Tashena, Alhaji Bello Mohammad Maiwa, who gave the advice while addressing Fulani community leaders, said some of the Fulani youth in the area were still unwilling to comply with the instruction.
