HGC Owerri Old Boys return Opara national president, elect others 

The Old Boys of Holy Ghost College (HGC) Owerri, Imo state have elected new officers to pilot the affairs of the union in the next three years.

In the election conducted during the ‘2023 Reunion’ of the college held at the college chapel weekend, Dr Anselem Opara was returned unopposed as National President, the same way Tonye Peterside was returned as Vice President.

The second Vice President position of the union was reserved for the diasporan members, while the Secretary General position was given to Barr Kayode Ojinnaka.

Others are: Assistant Secretary, Chijioke Odaghara; Treasurer, Uche Mezu; Financial Secretary, Okoro Edward; PRO, Duru Daniels; PRO 2, Dominic Nkwopara; Welfare Officer, Princewill Okadibe; Welfare Officer 2, Emmanuel Edeke; Provost 1,Dim Henry; and Provost 2, Chisom Emeh.

In his post election chat with newsmen, the re-elected National President of Holy Ghost College Owerri Old Boys Association, Dr Anselem Opara made it clear that there were no victors and no vanquished in the election and that they were not elected to make money but to serve the old boys.

He thanked members for their sacrifices during the 3- day Reunion/Homecoming of the union, especially their efforts during the fund raising ceremony aimed at constructing a befitting 500 capacity expandable Old Boys’ Secretariat, which he hoped would be roofed in the next few months.
