Hon. Miga’s constituency dividends

Primarily, the business of Legislature (members of the National Assembly) as spelt out in the 1999 Constitution, as amended, is to make laws that will ensure good governance and dividend of democracy for the people.
For Hon. Saidu Yusuf Miga, member of the House of Representatives, representing Jahu/Miga Federal Constituency, Jigawa state, he has not only carried out this duty, but gone the extra-mile to impact on his constituents by embarking on projects which have put smile on the faces of his constituents and saved lives through his healthcare delivery projects.
The astute politician, who spoke on his mid-term achievements at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly and his constituency said he has sponsored three motions and a Bill in the past two years, as well as embarked on projects ranging from women empowerment, healthcare, rural water supply and youth empowerment.
In the 2016 federal budget, the law maker influenced projects to his constituency, worth N86 million, under the constituency project, while in 2017, he attracted projects worth N91 million, which include construction of 142 hand pump boreholes, among others. As part of his effort to bring dividend of democracy to his people, Hon. Miga has embarked on projects worth over N100 million in the past two years.
Details of these projects include; provision of 74 motorcycles to youths, as part of his Youth Empowerment Programme aimed at reducing unemployment problem bedeviling the nation. 86 grinding machines for women in the rural areas to enhance their economic life, provision of 102 water pump machines for farmers to boost agricultural activities and 200 bags of fertilizer.
The federal legislator also embarked on healthcare projects during the period under review, which include settlement of medical bills amounting to about N3 million, treatment of patient for haena, eye and surgery for various ailments and diseases, under his health care programme. He also gave out N10, 000 each to 120 petty traders, tea-sellers, among other as measure to enhance their small businesses.
His mid-term achievements cannot be complete without including his support for his party officials and executives at both state and local government levels. As a onetime state chairman of his party, he makes sure he carries his party officials along by providing the leaders with water pumping machines to boost their farming business and mobile handsets for each party local government executive.
Unlike some legislators who do not care about their constituents, Hon. Miga engaged 23 people in his constituency office as staff and workers. Out of the 23, three of them are placed on salary, while the rest 20 are on allowance of N10, 000 each monthly. All these are his effort to ensure that party faithful and loyalists are adequately rewarded.
While pledging to leave behind a good legacy by contributing his quota to the success of the present administration, to bring the change mantra to the people of this country, he urged Nigerians to be patient with the Buhari administration in its effort to effect the change mantra hope for the better, for the people of this country.
He called on APC supporters, especially in his state (Jigawa) and the country in general, to bear with and be patient with this administration in its quest to address the socio-economic and security problems facing the country. He noted that the Buhari administration has made tremendous progress in tackling the insecurity in the country prior to its assumption of office.
