Hoodlums attack bus, kidnap passengers in Osun

Some yet to be identified gun men Sunday evening attacked a commercial bus in a village in Osun state and kidnapped many people.

A source disclosed that the kidnapp took place at Ajeoku village in Obokun Local Government Area of the state.

Numbers of passengers kidnapped could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

The village, Ajeoku, is located between Otan-Ile and Imesi in Obokun local government.

It was gathered that the attack was carried out around 8pm in a deserted road. The bus, according to some people in Otan ile, was coming from Abuja.

Fulani herdsmen on Sunday evening attacked a commercial bus in Ajeoku Village in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State and reportedly kidnapped some passengers.

An indigene of Imesi Ile who is the former chairman of Obokun Local Government, Mr. Sunday Ojo-Williams,  confirmed the attack.

According to him, the vigilante group working in Imesi Ile and policemen immediately launched a rescue operation and were able to rescue some of the passengers.

But, the state government said the area where the kidnap took place is Ekiti state and not Osun.

The Police Public Relations Officers, Osun State Command, Mrs Folasade Odoro, said “Information on the incident is still sketchy. She promised to brief the press later.

A source told our correspondent that police have deployed their men to the bush in search of those being held hostage by the abductors.
