Hoodlums kill 2 in Osun, police arrest 5

The Osun state Police Command Friday disclosed that it had arrested five persons in connection with the killing of two persons in the state.

It was gathered that one Rilwan Kareem (23), of Oke-Bode area, Ede, and a 21-year-old man simply identified as Taofeek, of Arulogun area, Ede, were killed by unknown hoodlums.

The hoodlums were said to have killed the victims on Thursday evening.

It was gathered that the hoodlums attacked the house of one Wakili Olayiwola at Arulogun area, Ede, and started shooting.

The Toyota Corolla belonging to Olayiwola was reportedly set on fire before their efforts to raze the building were eventually repelled by security operatives.

The Public Relations Officer of the police, SP Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.

According to Opalola, the Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, immediately mobilised detectives and tactical team to the venue upon receiving distress call.

She added that security operatives got to the venue when the hoodlums were planning to set the building on fire.

According to the police, the hoodlums numbering about 30 fled on sighting the detectives and escaped into various directions.

Those arrested according to the police are: Suleiman Babatunde (39), Saka Taofeek (35), Raimi Saheed (21), Akinloye Qowiyu (23) and Sadiq Alatise (25).

She said the corpses of those killed by the hoodlums had been taken to a mortuary for autopsy.
