Hoodlums loot 700m materials from Taraba varsity skills centre

The Taraba state University (TSU), Jalingo, on Friday disclosed that the institution’s Skills Acquisition Centre lost over N700 million worth of machines to looters in the wake of the #ENDSARS protests.

The university’s chief security officer, Col. A.N. Adamu (retd.), made the disclosure in Jalingo while conducting our correspondent round the Centre located outside the main campus of the university.

“The thugs forced their way into the premises of the Centre carting away and destroying machines such as large format, direct image photocopier, printing machines among others worth over N700 million,” he said.

Adamu said he was forced by the incident to employ vigilantes and the police to guard the university campus and the skills centre located opposite the Taraba state Broadcasting Service (TSBS), which was also vandalised.

“We were busy trying to protect the facilities at the main campus when I got a call that the hoodlums had invaded the skills acquisition centre located in town. I quickly employed the services of vigilantes and the host community that accompanied our team to the scene.”
