Hoodlums raise down 2 INEC offices in Ebonyi

Hoodlums Tuesday night set ablaze two offices belonging to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Ebonyi state.

The offices affected were those in Ezza North and Ebonyi Local Government areas.

A senior officer working with the commission who spoke on the condition of anonimity said that the hoodlums attacked the buildings  when workers had already gone home after the day’s job.

Noting that items raised by the fire were documents and other office equipment at the local government headquarters,  he described the incident as unfortunate, unpatriotic and regrettable.

He further stated that plans have been concluded to beef up security at INEC offices in other local governments areas of Ebonyi state to forestall another attack.

It was gathered that no casualties were recorded, but the buildings and facilities were destroyed.

INEC offices have been targeted by hoodlums after other several attacks were carried out on police facilities in the state.
