Hotels association condemns murder of Bauchi security guard

The Nigerian Hotels Association (NHA) Tuesday condemned the murder of an hotel security guard.

The association also denied claims that it is making moves to bail the director of New Trafford Hotel, Bauchi, who was arrested in connection with the killing of the security guard.

Addressing journalists at Obuna Royal Hotel, Bauchi, the national president of the association, Chief Eze Patrick Anyanwu, said the director of New Trafford, if found guilty, should be brought to justice. The association, he said,  would not condone any act of criminality.

The security guard, Sunday Joshua,  was allegedly beaten to death by his colleagues on the alleged order of the hotel management as a result of the theft of a phone under his watch.

Anyanwu stated that leaders of the association met and strongly condemned the alleged involvement of the director of the hotel who is their member.

“It involved one of our members quite alright, but at the initial time, we were watching because it involved death. At the end of the day, we discovered that our member participated in the beating.

“We the leaders of this association are not in support of what he did. He, as a director of  the hotel, if he noticed something wrong  happened in his hotel, he was not supposed to lose his temper. Temper has caused death. Ideally, he was supposed to blame somebody that did it, but he participated in the beating.  We, the leaders after investigating it, discovered that the director soiled his hands and we resolved as an association that we are not going to be part of it.

“Government and the family of the deceased should see that  we did not support what happened and  that is why we  call this press briefing to debunk the rumour that we are trying to bail him,” he said.
