Houses destroyed, properties lost as heavy downpour wrecks havoc at Buhari’s hometown

A heavy downpour which lasted for hours on Sunday, August 25, has destroyed about 100 houses in the Daura hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Although no fatalities were recorded, the rain flooded the area leading to the destruction of many houses ad their walls in Kalgo, Rahmawa, Bayan Motel and Lungun Kofar Baru, according to Vanguard report.

Also, Sarkin Yara A ward (Unguwan Kaura) – which is Buhari’s polling unit ward was among the areas affected by the downpour.

“It was a heavy downpour. It started as early as 7 am on Sunday morning,” a resident said.

He also said that the whole town became cloudy as the rain continued. He also noted that relevant emergency authorities have been notified to care for those affected by the downpour.

The resident said: “It rains continuously and the town is cloudy as I speak with you. It has destroyed many houses, about 100. In Kalgo, 50 houses while it was the same in other areas.”

“We called on all appropriate authorities to as a matter of urgency come to the affected person’s aid with immediate interventions to cater for them,” he said.
