Houses, shops razed in renewed Kogi communal clash  

 


Sheria community in Bassa local government area of Kogi state was  Tuesday attacked by unknown men who disguised in military uniform and set houses and shops on fire.


An eye witness said young men disguised in military camouflage entered Sheria through Biroko axis and started shooting sporadically and burning houses as residents scampered for safety.


The report further indicated that most of the shops by the road side in Sheria town were razed.


Though the number of human casualties was yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report, the eye witness disclosed that in the last one week, there has been report of renewed hostilities between the Igburra Mozum and Bassa Kumu in Bassa local government area of the state.


Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Williams Aya, said calm has returned to the troubled community.
