The Appeal Court sitting in Yola, Adamawa state , Thursday declared Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate.

Justice Tani Yusuf Hassan decided to set aside the judgment of a Federal High Court that nullified the governorship primary and said APC has no candidate for the 2023 governorship election.

Former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, who contested the party ticket alongside Binani and others had challenged her victory in court.

Ribadu sought an order restraining APC from submitting Binani’s name to INEC on the grounds that she emerged from an invalid and unlawful exercise.

After the nullification by the court, she challenged the ruling at the Appeal Court.

The appellate court ordered that Binani’s name be submitted to the INEC immediately.
