Worried over the incessant attacks, kidnapping and rustling of domestic animals belonging to communities of Maru, Gusau and Bungudu local government councils in Zamfara state, resident of Gidan Ango in Magami district of Gusau local government, Alhaji Bature Gidan Ango, known as Bature Mai Lohe, has narrated how bandits are moving free in 18 villages.

He said the bandits are currently moving free in the area with security personnel uniforms without any hitch.

Mai Lohe lamented that five people are currently in captivity of bandits for over 40 days. They kidnapped another five villagers in neighbouring village of Kyakyakya who also spent over 50 days in captivity.

He added that the bandits demanded the sum of N2 million from Kyakyakya villagers before they release the five men abducted. The bandits, he said, invaded the village and rustled their domestic animals ranging from cows, sheep and goats before collecting the said N2 million ransom for their five kidnapped victims.

“Everyone knows that these bandits are operating free without any hitch in their different camps located at Danmarke, Jirga, Yanmangu, Yarwutsiya, Kungurmi and Landai, villages respectively.”

He said the villages under the control of recalcitrant

bandits are under Maru, Bungudu and Tsafe local government councils. It also include Gidan Ango, Nasarawa, Tungar Haki, Madaro, Kyakyakya, Ruwan Bawa, Maitaura, Yanmazanka, Ruwan kunku, Gidan Arna, Gobirawa, Katsira, Sabuwal, Kango, Kwabtari, Kwabtarin Likko, Hayin Alhaji and Tazame villages respectively.

“All these villages I have earlier mentioned are under the control of bandits and in some villages close to Magami, their men used to leave their respective villages to Magami town and sleep in fear of the bandit attack,” Bature Mai Lohe said.

Mai Lohe called on Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle, the state Commissioner of Police, Brigade Commandant, State Commandant, NSCDC and other critical stakeholders to the area and ascertain the level of suffering and observe their situation for urgent action.

“I am appealing to Governor Matawalle, security agencies and other stakeholders to come to our area and witness our predicaments for holistic approach,” Mai Lohe said.
