How Chiwetel Ejiofor stole the shine off Chimamanda and HOAYS

It’s no longer news that the movie “Half of a Yellow Sun” was premiered in Lagos over the weekend.
“HOAYS” is a Hollywood adaptation of the popular award winning novel of the same title by Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngosi Adichi, starring Thandie Newton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Boyega, Joseph Mawle, Dominic Cooper, Anika Noni Rose and Genevieve Nnaji, whom we heard was given a waka pass role.

However, the presence of Nigerian-British Hollywood actor, Chiwetel, at the Premiere shifted focus from the primary task, as his many star-struck Nigerian celebrities came all out to see the actor.
The Nigerian social media space was even more a washed with excitement over his coming to Nigeria for the first time in many years and you could have thought that the occasion was specifically organised to celebrate him rather than “HOAYS,” and Chimamanda at least for her success.

Chimamanda was blurred out of the whole shine as Chiwetel became the star of “HOAYS” at the Premier. Didn’t we all see how JK Rawlings was celebrated for “Harry Potter”?
