How Okorocha spent over N100m on Imo LGs

The immediate past governor of Imo state, now senator representing Imo West Senatorial District(Orlu Zone), Owelle Rochas Okorocha allegedly gave the sum ofN400,000 to his loyalists who are the suspended LG chairmen and councillors in each of the 305 INEC wards in the state to enable them successfully storm the 27 local government councils in the state last Monday.

One of the councillors who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that the ex governor decided to make his last attempt at grasping power after failing to install his son- in- law as governor in the last election and his ambition  truncated by the last Supreme Court ruling which siad  that his son-in-law had double candidacy in the last election.

The councillor who said  Okorocha believes he is the No 1 political strategist in the country, cashed  in on the Ekiti state local government council   Supreme Court ruling and reasoned that it could  be implemented in Imo  if something was done to alert the  highest court in the land.

He added that when the ex governor suggested it, he backed it up with money and they became interested since the plan was to get the attention of the Supreme Court. “No more no less”, he concluded.

Okorocha conducted the local government election which brought in the suspended chairmen to power a few months before he left office, using  an illegal and novel Community Government Council(CGC) as wards which number was more than 600 instead of the already known and constitutionally approved  305 INEC wards to give advantage to his son-in-law during the last All Progressives Congress(APC) governorship primary.  Many in the state believe the election was a charade because  all the chairmen and councillors that emerged were his boys.
