How to tackle Boko Haram, by Tukur

A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamangar Tukur, has offered suggestions on how to tackle the menace of Boko Haram ravaging the North-east part of the country, saying: “We must create defence, dialogue and use diplomacy in handling the insurgents.

Speaking yesterday in Abuja when the Niger Delta PDP Youth Movement paid him a courtesy call at his residence in Abuja, Tukur said Boko Haram crisis demanded careful handling.
He said: “As you know these are people who kill without mercy and even kill themselves without regard. We must create defence, create dialogue and diplomacy in handling them so we can move forward.”

“We should support our President because we need a bridge. It is God that gives power and so we should continue to support what God has shown to us. We must encourage him for continuity. We need stability. You don’t get to the middle of the sea you change the captain, you encourage him. We must mobilise to deliver Mr President and all others who have goodwill for our nation.”
In his address, spokesperson of the group, Barrister Alwell, Ezebunwo, told Tukur that they were in his house on solidarity visit. They called on the North to fully support the re-election of President Jonathan while they would reciprocate their gesture in subsequent elections.
