Huawei launches latest Wi-Fi 6 innovation in Nigeria

Huawei Technologies Company Nigeria Limited said it has launched the latest Wi-Fi 6 innovation in Nigeria, even as it hosted over 150 customers and partners in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The event which took place during its annual IP club technology seminar themed “Rethink IP 2019” brought together ICT industry experts across public and private sectors to discuss network solutions for business development.

Speaking on Huawei’s enterprise network solutions, Mr. Matamela Mashau, IP Chief Technology Officer, Huawei Southern Africa, touched on the company’s investment in research and development (R&D) as a core strength to its continuous innovation and competitive advantage.

He stated that “Huawei Technologies invests over 10% of sales revenue in R&D over the last 10 years. And also the Huawei’s global resources are channelled to local operations to better serve its customers.”

Alan Jin, Enterprise IP Manager, Huawei Nigeria, discussed Huawei’s cloud campus solutions describing them as “intent-driven.”

According to Alan, “the full lifecycle of Huawei’s cloud management reduces operating expense by 80%.”

Mr. Abdul-Malik, Suleiman, Group Head, Business Development, Galaxy Backbone Limited, one of Huawei’s partners, commended Huawei for its continuous support over the past 10 years and highlighted the company’s responsiveness, innovation and client service structure.

According to him “Huawei enabled Galaxy Backbone build the first and only Tier 3 data centre in Nigeria and expand its metro fibre from Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to other states in the country.”

Mr. Agada Felix, Head of ICT, Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) shared the history of digitization for the NPS, commending Huawei Technologies for its partnership, he said “Huawei has enabled the NPS enjoy full connection and database management. Today, we can confidently and remotely identify all inmates across the country while granting them effective access to justice.”

He stated that “before, it took 3 months to collate the full database of the institution.”

The Wi-Fi 6 which is the latest and fastest in terms of speed and digital transformation, was launched in Nigeria at the event by Mr. Eason Dong, Solutions Sales Director, Huawei Nigeria Enterprise.

According to the white paper of Wi-fi 6, in the next three to five years, technologies such as 4K/8K Ultra HD Video, IoT, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and automatic guided vehicle (AGV) will be widely used in education, enterprise, and industrial automation.

The white paper highlights why Wi-Fi 6 will meet future development requirements in terms of bandwidth, latency, connection quality, transmission efficiency, and terminal power consumption management.

According to Huawei Technologies, “Huawei released the first Wi-Fi 6 AP in the industry which is also the first to be verified by Tolly, a reliable hands-on evaluation and certification ICT company.”


Huawei Technologies reiterated its commitment to “build a safe and sustainable software ecosystem, in order to provide the best experience for all its users globally.”
