Human capital development key to economic growth – Expert

The National Coordinator of Aminu Kano Foundation, Malam Ibrahim Waiya, has described the development of human capital as a major catalyst for ensuring sustainable and rapid economic growth in the country.
Speaking at a one day sensitisation workshop organised by a nongovernmental organisation in Kano yesterday, Waiya said “the country is blessed with huge human capital which is still underutilised and wasted without regard to the fact that no country can ever reach the zenith of rapid economic posterity without developing its human capital.” Citing the example of China, India, Malaysia and Singapore to buttress his point, the national coordinator maintained that both countries were not known to be famous and influential, stressing that they both found their names in gold for creating avenues for rapid and sustainable development.
“China is today being counted among the seven leading industrial democracies of the world, having one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
The Chinese were able to achieve such a fame and greatness by effectively harnessing and prudently utilising its human capital.
From the Chinese excellence, one can rightly say human capital is indispensable
