Human right activist tasks kogi youth on skill acquisition

A human rights activist based in Kogi state, Chief Haruna Ahmed Osike, has urged Nigerian youth to devote their time and energy in acquiring skill and trade test certificate in order to enable them gain employment in Ajaokuta steel company.

Osike who gave the charge against the backdrop of the planned resuscitation of the steel plant by President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, said the steel plant when completed will create enormous jobs for artisans.

Speaking on youth empowerment and engagement in Lokoja on Thursday, the human right activist said  a lot of job opportunities await youth who are skilled and have trade test certificate.

“This is the time for youth to shun thuggery and plan for their future through acquisition of skills that will be beneficiary to them as Ajaokuta steel company is already at the verge of resuscitation.

“They should go for training in the field of electrical installations; welding and fabrication, plumbing and pipe-fitting because these are some of the various trades that will be required by the time the steel company kick start its operation which will be very soon.

“I am calling on Nigerian youth to go and learn skill and obtain their trade test in readiness for engagement into Ajaokuta steel company” he advised

Osike who praised the courage and the political will of President Muhammadu Buhari for his decision to complete and put in use the steel plant , noted that the resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel plant would also lead to the revival of  Alaja steel complex, Oshogbo, Jos and Katsina  rolling mills.

While commending the staff of Ajaokuta steel plant for remaining resolute, the human right activist urged them to support the federal government to achieve their plan of reviving the industry.
