I haven’t decamped to PRP –Sen Sani

Senator Shehu Sani has dismissed rumors that he has dumped All Progressive Congress (APC) for People’s Redemption Party (PRP), describing the report as the handiwork of those who are bent on destroying him politically.

Speaking to Blueprint weekend yesterday, Senator Sani alleged that the Kaduna state government has abandoned its statutory responsibility of providing dividends of democracy to its people as it now engages ‘’ in Operation Pull Down Shehu Sani by all means.’’

According to him, “ next month February, I will tell my supporters whether I will contest for Kaduna State Governorship in 2019 or not and on which party’s ticket.’’

’ They claimed that they have suspended me more than six times from APC, at a point, they even claimed that I was completely expelled from my APC Alkalawa ward in Tudun Wada, knowing fully well that those claiming to have suspended me were illegal caretaker committee that was not recognized by National Headquarters of APC in Abuja,

‘’Today in Kaduna, we have APC Akida, APC restoration and APC Government House which means that all is not well with the ruling party in Kaduna State,’’ Senator Sani added.

The senator noted that he has never changed from his activities as a Human Rights activist, ‘’even though I am now in politics actively,’’ adding that ‘’even President Buhari whenever we met, he used to call me Comrade Shehu Sani and in return, I always referred to him as President Buhari the Lion.
‘’He argued that ‘’ I have nothing against the Governor, our disagreement is based on principles”.

The lawmaker called on the APC national leadership to sit up and be alive to their responsibilities, adding that the party is in crises ‘’in Kaduna chapter, in Katsina chapter, in Rivers chapter and in Kano chapter that gave the President the winning votes in 2015’’.

‘’I had expected that a reconciliation committee be set up to go round the affected state and reconcile the aggrieved parties, but the National Leadership of the party allowed Governors to be dictating to followers of the party in their state, ‘’ he maintained.

Senator Sani alleged that Governor El Rufai had sent nine members of Kaduna State House of Assembly to lobby him on the $350 million dollars that the state government wanted to borrow from the world bank, adding that the discussion is ongoing.
