I met Kanu in New York, Sowore admits

Detained convener of RevoultionNow, Omoyele Showore, has admitted meeting leader of the Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu in New York, United States of America,  even as he denied being sponsored by some  external forces alleged by the Department of State Service(DSS).

The DSS had said the activist was being sponsored by external forces to topple the  Muhammadu Buhari-led  administration.

Debunking the allegation in a process filed at a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress(AAC) in the last general elections, admitted meeting Kanu in the U.S.

In the process,  Sowore said  contrary to allegation by the DSS in its counter-affidavit, he  neither visited Dubai nor any country in the United Arab Emirates(UAE) in his life.

He said the security agency was unaware he had a meeting with the IPOB leader before being    published by  Sahara Reporters, his online news platform.

The detained activist also challenged DSS operatives that investigated both his local and foreign banks’ account to make public details of their findings, saying they couldn’t believe  he did  not have millions of Naira in them.

While telling the court he was abducted illegally,  the publisher said he was  idle in detention and required urgent treatment of ankle injury sustained August 2 during his arrest by the secret security agency.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the High Court had, August 8, granted the DSS leave to detain Sowore for 45 days, ruling that the security agency was at liberty to re-approach the court on September 21 for an extension of the detention period.

The decision was however being challenged by Sowore, through his lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN.

Falana, in  his prayer, asked th court to quash the exparte order and ordered the  immediate release of the accused person.
